St. Ronan's school orchestra performed a medley of Christmas tunes as well as some pieces they have been working on.
Children from sixth class wrote and produced their own Christmas play. There were many interesting celebrity characters, great sound effects and fantastic set design. Children from other classes attended performances of this very successful production. From Star Readers to Star Writers
The sixth class students had a very busy term working on a short story to publish into a book. Kathryn Crowley from Emu courses online came in and told us about our journey towards writing a book. We first planned what we were going to write about in our copies, then we showed our teachers. The teachers played a big part in this, helping us edit and make sure our ideas flowed together. They also gave us good ideas if we were unable to think of something. We were all able to work at home as well as at school with google classroom, which was great. It took us four weeks from writing to editing to the final story. In the end it was an amazing experience, being able to write a book with all my friends in Sixth Class has made this something I will treasure forever. By Tyra Kane Sixth Class Third Class will be performing their Christmas Play “The Nativity” on Tuesday the 18th of December in the church at 11:00 a.m. Ms Collins’ and Mr O’Reilly’s classes have been practising hard the last number of weeks to get their show ready. The classes have been learning their lines, singing the songs and rehearsing for the play. The play will tell the story of Christmas as Mary and Joseph travel to Nazareth where Jesus was born. Parents and family are invited to come along to see our show.
Sixth class had a great time during Science Week creating a place to live on a new planet. They used recycled materials from Recreate. Thank you to The Gaiety School of Acting for running the workshop.
A group of students from fifth class along with some teachers took part in a recent Junior Park run in Griffeen Valley. This event takes place every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Some students have been attending themselves since this and have had great success setting new personal best times. All the children in fifth class have just completed the Marathon Kids Ireland programme, which was sponsored by S.D.C.C and Fingal County Council. Over the course of nine weeks the children ran four days each week. The distance covered increased every week and the children ran their final mile in Morton Stadium in Santry. Over the course of the programme the children ran a full 26.2 miles (marathon distance). It was a fantastic event and every child enjoyed participating. There was also a huge improvement in the fitness of all participants. |
