As part of the Bí Gnothach project run by the Enterprise office in SDCC the fifth class students set up and ran their own business. They began this process by gathering, collating and examining market research. Following this they advertised and created their products and brand. They were very keen to keep their business as green as possible and used recycled materials and fair trade products. They held a very successful fair day which was enjoyed by all staff and students. The customers enjoyed fresh home-made lemonade and other food treats as they made their own slime, decorated biscuits, designed origami pieces and had a turn at the fair games. The classes raised €701 which they will be donating to the school table tennis club. The students wish to thank all the customers that supported their business. As part of horse awareness week the children from fifth and sixth class attended an information workshop in the hall. There were representatives from DSPCA, Clondalkin Equine Centre, Race Academy, Dunsink Horse Club and a vet from UCD. The workshop covered how to look after a horse and lots of other information which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Some students have been attending Clondalkin Equine Centre as a result.
Room 15 have been busy learning all about volcanoes. They have made a variety of models from clay and had great fun getting them to erupt. Mark from Xilinx teaching the children chromatography. Well done to all the fine readers and actors!
